Apple & Cranberry Turkey Sausage Burger
Wednesday, July 24, 2013From our skinny table to yours...
We can't be the only ones craving Thanksgiving food in the summer, right? MMM we love Thanksgiving! There is nothing like momma's sausage stuffing with cranberries and apples. So we thought we would put a summer friendly twist on one of our favorite holiday foods! Entering the Apple and Cranberry Turkey Sausage Burger ;)
When you think Thanksgiving you think of HOURS in the kitchen and gaining about 5 pounds right?? No need to worry ladies as our burger is, of course, bikini friendly and will be on the table in under 30 minutes! Start by chopping up your Thanksgiving flavors of apples, cranberries, red onion, garlic, celery, fresh rosemary and fresh thyme! We simply sautéed this delicious combo and mixed this into our LEAN turkey sausage. Of course, this would be equally as yummy with 99% lean ground turkey, but today we were craving the sausage!
Now send your man outside to grill up these bad boys! While he works on that... you can work on the delicious Apple Slaw we topped our burgers with :) We sliced up some golden delicious apples and mixed that up with a BAG of coleslaw mix. Easy right? We dressed our slaw with a combo of olive oil, apple cider vinegar, apple cider, honey Dijon, and lots of fresh pepper!
Toss your grilled burger onto a 100 calories whole wheat bun and pile on the coleslaw and enjoy for under 500 calories! Serve this with a side veggie of your choice and you are good to go!
Happy Thanksgiving in July everyone! Enjoy :)
